Bordeaux, a trip in a terroir land where the local cuisine is everywhere

The Girondin main city will give you a wide selection of activities : from a pleasant walk on the Garonne quays to a good café sitting down in on of the several terraces, shop in the Ste Catherine Street which is the longest commercial street in France (do not forget to buy some Canelés, which is THE local pastry).

Your journey would be incomplete if you stopped here. So, take a shuttle to Merignac airport to pick up your lease to see where the wind takes you. To the West, swim in the Arcachon Bay after climbing to the top of the Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe with its 351 feet. You will have such an amazing view all around the Ocean and the Pines from the Landes.

Now drive through the French Basque Country in a green landscape. The warm welcome from the inhabitants is really to underline. Here you will be invited to taste their local products before driving to the Coast admire waves smash against the cliffs, favorite spots for expert surfers or watch a Rugby game especially in Bayonne or Biarritz. Car is more than necessary in a country where distances are not so bad but where you want to take your time in each curve.

Finally, come back near Bordeaux after crossing over Basque Country and Landes and discover the wine-producing region. Medoc, Cote de Blaye, St Émilion, Sauternes, Pomerol… you will have so many choices but be careful, the one who drinks is not the one who drive.
